Visa Information

Foreign students who plan to study at CILE for mare than four weeks must obtain a visa from the Korean Consulate General in their country. The application process, including the required documents and the processing time, varies from country to country. For complete information, please contact the Korean Consulate General in your country at least tow months before the first day of class. In addition, the type of visa required depends on how long you plan to stay in Korea.

C-3 Short-Term Visa

A C-3 visa allows a three-month stay in Korea and cannot be renewed within Korea. This visa is generally issued immediately upon application at the Korean Consulate General, and is recommended for students who plan to attend a special program or only one term of the regular program. If a student who got C-3 visa and intents to study more than one semester, he can change the status of his visa and apply D-4 visa at the immigration office in Seoul with all the reguired documents ready.

D-4 Students Visa

A D-4 visa allows a six-month stay in Korea and can be renewed, for up to one and a half years, at the immigration office in Seoul. This visa is recommended for students who plan to attend two or more terms. If pressed for time, a students can enter Korea on a C-3 visa and then, within 90 days, apply for a D-4 visa at the immigration office in Seoul. Since it takes usually over a month to get a D-4 visa, students have to begin the process at least 2 months before the regular classes start.
